If you have white stains running down brick or masonry below painted shutters, gutters or trim, there's a good chance you're dealing with titanium dioxide staining or other mineral pigments embedded in the surface.
Graffiti and paint removers may not be effective since this is a mineral stain rather than paint itself.
Fortunately there is a quick and easy solution using World's Best Rust & Stain Remover.
We recently helped a homeowner with exactly this problem seen above. Years of runoff from painted shutters had left white stains down the brick below his windows. He had already tried paint remover, Goof Off, lacquer thinner and even a paint-over spray without any success.
Fortunately, World's Best Rust & Stain Remover makes short work of these jobs using the method described below.
First, wet the wall down thoroughly. Brush on the Rust & Stain Remover, allow it to dwell for approximately 10 minutes, agitate if needed with a soft bristled nylon brush or broom then rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer.
If there is still actual undissolved paint residue on the brick, you may need to treat it first with Vanish Paint & Graffiti Remover or Bare Brick, Stone & Masonry Graffiti Remover. Flood coat the affected area several times at several-minute intervals, allow the product time to work as long as needed, before rinsing with a pressure washer.
As with any restoration job, TEST FIRST on a small area before treating the entire surface.
